Berlin is BIG, it can be intimidating and overwhelming at times. The metro system is difficult to navigate - it took us until the 4th day before we were able to understand it and we still got lost. The buildings span from very old to very modern but most of the apartment buildings are 1960’s era, so not very impressive (bombs will do that). There was a lot of preparation going on for the Festival of Lights celebration, so some sites were not accessible or if they were, just a portion could be accessed like the Brandenburg Gates - if we were here a week later, we would have seen a spectacular display (Oh well).
