Vancouver/Victoria

British Columbia

sunny 80 °F

Vancouver is a very big city with your typical downtown activities, highfalutin shopping and dining. If there is a sporting event then you can do that too. Other than city stuff, which can be fun but not much history a few days here and you are done.

Victoria is a pretty island but not much to do. Once you’ve seen the capital (pretty much the history of Victoria) then all there is to do is walk the city and you’ve seen everything there is to see. It’s a big island but not a lot of touristy things to do. Two nights max is all you need.

I will caution you that we did have a horrible time at the Peace Arch Border Crossing. Evidently, you are required to complete the online app ArriveCAN (probably due to Covid-19) but there are no signs at the border that indicate this is a requirement. So, we waited an hour to cross, just to be told that we need this app completed and then told we have to go back to the U.S. side. The wait to go through the U.S. border was also an hour wait (plenty of time to fill out the app) go through the U.S. border only to go through the Canadian side again, yes, another hour-long wait. Riddle me this: Why is there no such requirement going through the Montreal border crossing. Yes, different territories have different requirements but COVID is COVID so at a minimum a sign at the crossing is not too much to ask.
